Tanzanite Pendant
A Study in Blue
With this piece I wanted to explore a monochromatic aesthetic. The materials that I chose all come from the same range of hues – colors that are sufficiently distinct so as not to get lost amongst one another, but that, when combined, promote a singular feeling.
At the center rests a fantasy cut tanzanite that was provided by the client. Together we sourced a piece of vivid blue lapis lazuli to complement the tanzanite’s hue. The platinum frame is set with rare Yogo sapphires from Montana. Aside from the color selection I paid lots of attention to the fine details of the design. The way in which the various components are assembled involves hand made screws that are applied on the reverse.
