Crafted from Stone
This pendant holds an incredibly special stone. The intense green of this jadeite is surpassingly rare, and I wanted the design to match it for uniqueness. The desired effect upon seeing this piece is surprise and wonder, similar to the feeling of encountering such a creature in nature. It is like a gifted moment of being allowed to observe something so elaborately beautiful and so complex for its minute size.
Beetles have always amazed me. Something about them is so outlandish. They are at once delicate yet impenetrable, beautiful but frightening. For months my mind was overrun with thoughts of beetles and their countless intricacies, and this took shape into something wonderful.
