The seeds of creativity were planted in Everett at a very young age. One of five brothers, he was born into an environment of music, painting, and sculpture, with artist and naturalist parents that taught the appreciation of earth’s beauty. From leatherworking to knifemaking, writing and photography to stone carving, creative expression has always been a constant in the artist’s life. In his teenage years he began to travel, and eventually would spend multiple years at a time zigzagging across Central and South America. He lived out of a small backpack and worked odd jobs along the way, even crewing on a sailboat across the Pacific Ocean to Polynesia.

A major source of inspiration to him was the architectural prowess and the jeweling proficiency of the many cultures he spent time with throughout those years. An obsessive rockhound since youth, he always had a collection of crystals, gems and special stones he collected while hiking through mountains, forests and deserts. He desired to emulate the ancients and learn the manipulation of metal and stone, to immortalize these treasures into wearable works of art. Since his first carving of jade in the tropical forests of southern Mexico, Everett relishes each project as an opportunity to expand his knowledge of the craft and foster new skills.
